Mine iron deposits with a Pickaxe, then smelt Iron Ore at your Furnace with Charcoal fuel — same workflow as copper, higher-tier nodes.

Iron nodes cluster near the Witchspire and inside the cave the main quest sends you to for a hidden key — mine while following that storyline rather than backtracking later.
